Once happened a nun who studied zen for many years was unable to bear fruits with her practice.
At last one moonlit night, as she was fetching water with an old pail bounded by bamboo. She watches the water fill the pail and saw the bright reflection of the moon.
Gazing at the reflection of the moon the pail started to fall apart. She tries desperately to hold it together with no prevail.
The bottom breaks and the water pours out, at that moment the nun was enlightened.
In commemoration, she wrote a poem:
In this way and that I tried to save the olds pail.
Since the bamboo strip was weakening and about to break.
Until at last the bottom fell out.
No more water in the pail.
No more moon in the water.
